It’s officially cold here in Kootenai country and Libby Dam discharge operations are now under winter criteria and will continue through February. Conditions and flows could change on a daily basis so it’s best for the next couple months to check dishcharge information by calling 406-293-3421. The Kootenai will always be fishable if flows are under 18,000 cfs and the river will stay clear. Obviously winter fishing is mostly about throwing streamers are gettting nymphs down deep. Don’t be afraid to get out there if weather permits and give winter fishing a try. Happy Holidays.
