The Kootenai River is in excellent shape and fishing well.  The season is here and we're off to roaring start.  Linehan Outfitting guests are bending rods and smiling and we could not be happier with the water conditions so far this season.

Water temps are hitting the middle 50s and dry fly fishing is getting better and more consistent.  Pmds and caddis are hatching daily and on some stretches and depending on time of day fish are responding, looking up, and providing many targets.

Nymphing is still super solid if you really want to put up some numbers and go that route.  Five feet to the indicator with a BB and two bead heads will get the job done.  Make sure one of the bugs is a caddis of some sort especially in faster water and riffles.

fStreamer fishing is also productive this time of year.  Keep in mind they will not necessarily want to move too fast or too far to get a meal.  Get your streamers down and fish them slowly and erratically.  Nothing like a wounded minnow to get a big rainbow interested in at least a sniff.  Stick with banks and boulder gardens and places where bigger fish can ambush prey.

The Boston Red Sox have gained momentum over the last couple weeks and are now at least consistently putting up more wins after a dreadful start to the season.  Run production has finally increased led by Rafael Devers, JD Martinez, Kiki Martinez and Trevor Story.  Late inning relief has also finally stepped up and closing games in a more substantial style.  Pitching has really started to come together and with news that Chris Sale might be back in the rotation very soon things are looking even better.   Go Sox!!!
