YEAR-ROUND ADVENTURES WITH AN ORVIS-ENDORSED FLY FISHING AND WINGSHOOTING TEAM

For over 30 years we’ve had the privilege of sharing some of the finest fly fishing and hunting adventures in the world. We’d like to think it’s ”our little secret,” but the word is out – we provide year round adventures ( fly fishing, big game hunting, or bird hunting) all with access to our carefully curated lodge.

When you visit us, you’re coming home. We (Tim and Joanne) know that this isn’t just a trip.

It’s the full experience.

That’s why we’re honored to be an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing and Wingshooting Outfitter, winning Fishing Outfitter of the Year in 2020 and Wingshooting Guide of the Year in 2025.

INCREDIBLE FISHING DIVERSITY MEETS HOSPITALITY

We have it all… seriously! Montana offers some of the most diverse fisheries in the American west. And here at Linehan Outfitting, we believe having a breadth of opportunity greatly contributes to the success, and to the enjoyment, of any adventure. On top of that, we have intentional hospitality that simply can’t be beat. From Joanne’s cuisine, to Tim’s devotion to the lodge, you’ll feel right at home.

The Kootenai and Clark Fork Rivers are our home waters, but we also have access to countless miles of small stream access as well as lakes and ponds to explore. So, there is more than enough fishing to keep rods bent, smiles wide, and the thirst for adventure quenched.

And that’s our goal: for more than twenty years we’ve been seen by both colleagues and customers as one of the best outfitters in the West. We have built our business one guest at a time, because each visitor, and each day in the woods and on the water, is what’s important to us.

WORLD-CLASS FLY FISHING TRIPS IN MONTANA

If you haven’t fished the northwest corner of Montana, something special is waiting for you. Our remote corner of Kootenai country is far less traveled than other, more talked-about parts of the state. This place is rugged, untracked, and exceptionally beautiful. The northwest corner of Montana where we hang our hats is a dense, fertile, and low-lying rainforest… not the typical high and dry “Big Sky Country” that thoughts of Montana regularly conjure. Ours is a place of steep, rugged, forested mountains and lush valleys; it’s a place that time forgot, where the people are friendly and guests are made to feel special. Nestled in the shadows between Idaho and British Columbia, you will find a forgotten piece of Montana where it’s easy to forget the hustle and bustle of life back home.

UPLAND GROUSE HUNTING

ORVIS WINGSHOOTING GUIDE OF THE YEAR, 2025

The remote Yaak Valley is made up of woods and mountains and free-flowing streams, creating bird cover not dissimilar to that found in northern New England. Here at Linehan Outfitting we are grouse hunters through and through, and our populations of native grouse have thrived here for eons.

We have been running dogs and offering some of the finest forest grouse hunting in the lower forty-eight states since 1992. This corner of Montana has three species of forest grouse, namely Ruffed, Blue (Dusky), and Spruce grouse. All three exist in good number here, making the Yaak one of the only places where you can hunt three species of forest grouse in one day.

BIG GAME HUNTING

If you thought we had diverse options for our fly fishing programs… just wait for our big game options. From our archery elk program, to our mountain lion hunts, we truly offer just about everything. Whether you prefer rifle elk, wolf, black bear, or Whitetail Deer Hunting, we have your hunt locked in.
